Daniel Sweeney

Daniel Sweeney was born in Cardiff, Wales about 1888 and married Margaret McGinn in Lugar in 1910. They had a daughter Mary Margaret Sweeney born 1911 and a son Daniel born 1913.

He was a Lance Corporal with the Seaforth Highlanders. He fell at the Battle of Loos on 25th September 1915.
He was officially declared dead in Sep 1916. His wife and 2 children lived at 21 Townfoot (reported in announcement in the Cumnock Chronicle 29 Sep 1916)
On Cumnock War Memorial he is recorded as a Private.

His widow was married to John O'Rourke in Kilmarnock in 1917.
