Andrew Sloan

Andrew Sloan of Ochiltree enrolled in Ayrshire Yeomanry in 1904 aged 18. He was working for farmer Hugh Sloan (his father) at Carbello Crossing. He was 5 ft 5  and 3/4 and had a chest measurement of 34 inches.
Discharged in 11 Apr 1916 under para 392 (XXI) King's regulations - the termination of his period of service. This Andrew Sloan married Grace Findlay and died in Twynholm in 1983, so …
                             
  who is Trooper Andrew Sloan on the War Memorial? There are only two WW1 casualties called Andrew Sloan: one  from Cathcart and one from Motherwell. Neither have Ayrshire or farming connections.
